Pueblo Library is inviting local organizations (Library/Archive/Museum/Gallery/Historical Society/Community Center/School) to contribute to our region's history records using scanned images and documents that will be shared and stored in one large digital database. If selected, a small Digital Memory Lab with equipment will be set up at each location at no cost to the organization.
The primary goal of this project is to preserve the history and culture of the region. An
important aspect of this goal is to fill in the historical record, which is missing the voices of
marginalized communities like Hispanics/Latinos, African Americans, and rural residents.
A secondary goal is to raise awareness of the principles of archiving and to help people understand that their individual and community histories are an important part of the cultural and historical
landscape of the region.
The digital memory lab, instruction sessions and participatory archiving events supported by project staff with local leaders will serve to fulfill these goals.
